Halogen Lights

Halogen bulbs and halogen spot lights
Traditional halogen light bulbs operate at high temperatures and will cause burns if touched when hot. Because halogen lights operate at such high temperatures, the halogen light fittings should be placed where they can't be touched.

It is important to never exceed the maximum wattage stated on a light fitting and if there is no wattage stated on the fitting, we recommend seeking expert advice or replacing the halogen lights fitting due to the risk of overheating and fire. You should also check the building regulations in relation to installing recessed lights in ceiling and walls.

New generation halogen lights
New generation halogen light bulbs look like clear incandescent bulbs but are 30% more efficient than standard incandescent bulbs, plus they last twice as long as a standard bulb and can be used on a dimmer circuit (to use a CFL on a dimmer circuit, a special dimmable version is required and this should be clearly labeled on the packaging).
