Make the switch and save money

Standard 100W incandescent bulbs that cost around a dollar may seem like good value.

But in reality, the equivalent 20W compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) that is a few dollars more to buy will cost you far less money in the long run. That's because typically CFLs use around 80% less electrical energy. And they should last at least 6 times longer.

Making the switch is good for the country too

When we use energy efficient lighting, we help create a better New Zealand.

Join the rest of New Zealand in reducing the home lighting load by 66% (a feat that's definitely achievable), and together we could save over 1000 Giga Watt Hours of power annually. That's the equivalent of all the power used by homes in the entire Nelson/Marlborough region every single year.

Don't just take our word, see what Consumer had to say

Consumer NZ wanted to see how the energy-saver bulbs compared with standard bulbs for light output and how long they lasted after being switched on and off continually. Consumer tested 19 models to find the energy saver light bulbs that shine the brightest and last the longest.
